FAQs
What is this?
This is a commissions page intended to help trans folx visualize their inner selves. As a part of the trans community myself, I have often struggled with visualizing myself in art, though that struggle keeps leading me back to more and more attempts. So instead of using the same subject all the time, I'm extending my efforts to the wider community, and hoping I can help some people along the way!
How does it work?
You'll work with me, the artist, through either voice or text chat in a brief session so I can understand what you're looking for, after initially contacting me via email. You can provide me with reference images of yourself, if you feel comfortable doing so and want that to be a part of the final image, alongside visual or written requests such as "An expression like [image]" or "a high-bridged nose". I'll get started on drawing, and contact you along the way if I have any questions. Heavy revisions from the original concept can be sorted out on a case-by-case basis. Ultimately, the image should look how you want it to, so don't hesitate to be specific!
How fares the technical side?
I do my art digitally at 300 dpi, defaulting to a 9x9 inch square unless otherwise requested. I most prefer drawing faces/heads, so I'm the most proficient at them. Typically my art cuts off at around the collarbone; if you want more, talk to me and we'll work something out with the understanding that it may not be as high quality as the rest of the work. I'm offering three styles: a single-color sketched style with a digital ink pen tool, a multi-color painted style with relatively simple brushstrokes, and a more detailed and precise multi-color painted style. Please allow up to two weeks after our initial discussion for the completion and delivery of the sketchbook ink and simple painting styles, and up to four weeks for the detailed painting style. Simple color background with basic effects (like a color gradient) is my default, more complicated background is negotiable. Humanoid forms only - I'll chuck a bit of elfishness in there, maybe some cat ears on top, but that's about it. No gore, no NSFW, and I reserve the right to refuse any request I don't feel comfortable drawing.
Pricing?
Because this is a project I am doing for college credit, these prices are lower and more negotiable than normal. The point of the project is to engage with a community that's important to me, so if you really feel you need something done but don't have the means to pay, talk to me and we'll see what we can sort out. That said, I am still putting a price on these at a baseline because I am also trying to learn to commoditive side of art, transitioning from adolescent to adult. Sketchbook ink is $15, simple painting is $25, detailed painting is $45, and I accept payment through PayPal. All prices are in American dollars. Again, if these prices don't work for you, or if PayPal isn't an option for you, let's talk.
Rights/Terms of Use
Once I have completed and sent you your art, you are free to keep it for yourself, gift it to a friend, have it printed on an object like photostock or a mug, or post it elsewhere online. You are not permitted to monetize the image in any way (like selling an object with it printed on or putting it behind a paywall online), and I ask that you please credit me if you show it to others, online or off. I reserve the right to post the finished product on online spaces such as my portfolio, as ultimately the rights to the image do belong to me. I will never post nor show to anyone else any reference images you may send me; those will be deleted after we've decided on a final image.
